York beat Featherstone to set up Leeds semi-final
York City Knights have beaten Featherstone Rovers 28-24 to set up a Betfred Championship play-off semi-final against Leeds Rhinos.
The Knights overturned a 12-0 half-time deficit to record a famous victory at the LNER Community Stadium.
Will Oakes gave Featherstone an early lead and Featherstone had chances to extend their advantage but York defended resolutely. York started the second half strongly and reduced the deficit to six points thanks to a try from Ronan Dixon.
Featherstone full-back Jack Broadbent touched down to stretch the lead to 18-6 but York continued to threaten. Will Daggert's try brought the Knights to within six points with 12 minutes remaining.
York conjured a remarkable comeback and Matty Marsh touched down for the equalising try under the posts. Featherstone were down to 12 men after an off-the-ball incident and York took advantage. Danny Kirmond scored in the corner and converted his own try to seal a famous victory.
York will travel to Headingley next Saturday for the semi-final against a Leeds side who have won 12 of their last 13 games.
