Phillies Harper Grand Slam

Phillies' Harper Hits Grand Slam

Philadelphia Phillies right fielder Bryce Harper hit a grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Phillies a 8-4 win over the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday night.

It was Harper's second grand slam of the season and his 10th home run overall. The Phillies have now won four of their last five games and are 18-23 on the season.

Harper's grand slam came off Cubs reliever Rowan Wick. With the bases loaded and two outs, Harper hit a 1-1 pitch over the left-field wall to give the Phillies a 4-run lead that would hold until the final out of the game.

The Phillies had taken an early lead in the game, scoring two runs off Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks in the first inning on an RBI single by Nick Castellanos and a groundout by Harper.

The Cubs tied the game in the fourth inning on a two-run home run by Patrick Wisdom, but the Phillies regained the lead in the fifth inning on an RBI groundout by Brandon Marsh.

The Cubs tied the game again in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Seiya Suzuki, but Harper's grand slam in the eighth inning proved to be the difference in the game.

With the win, the Phillies moved to within 5.5 games of the first-place Milwaukee Brewers in the NL East. The Phillies will face the Cubs again on Thursday night in the second game of their three-game series.
