Nic Anderson Injury Update: OU Football WR Will Miss Sooners' Opener vs. Temple

Oklahoma Football | Sooners Wire

Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver Nic Anderson is expected to miss the team’s season opener against Temple on Sept. 1, head coach Brent Venables announced Monday.

Anderson, a junior, has been sidelined with a foot injury since the spring. He was expected to be a key contributor for the Sooners this season, but his absence will be a significant blow to the team’s offense.

Venables said Anderson is still recovering from the injury and is not yet ready to return to practice. He added that the team is hopeful Anderson will be able to return later in the season.

Anderson’s injury is a major setback for the Sooners, who are already dealing with the loss of several key players, including quarterback Caleb Williams, running back Kennedy Brooks, and wide receiver Mario Williams.

Despite the injuries, Venables said he is confident in his team’s ability to compete in the 2023 season.

“We have a lot of young players who are eager to step up and make a difference,” Venables said. “I’m excited to see how they perform in the season opener.”

The Sooners will open the season against Temple on Sept. 1 at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
